Truthfully I was disappointed with the food and service. We sent back the Morecambe bay prawns with an odd smell. We had to ask for the chips due with a venison mixed grill. My rabbit pie was dry and overcooked. The 2 fish and chips were fine. I expected more! I thought a dining pub with Nigel Howarth's name would be better.
We drove 50 miles to visit here and both the staff and food were very disappointing. The mains were fantastic as usual standard of the three fishes, however my dessert of the lemon curd doughnuts was not up to its normal standard. First of all I noticed how large the doughnuts were compared to the usual size, and then I started to eat the first one.
The texture was very strange not the light texture that is standard for the normally excellent dessert, and I guess from making doughnuts myself was the result of over proving, Also there was very little lemon curd in any of the doughnuts at which point I sent my dessert back. The staff were very apologetic and nice even though I had complained. Food excellent. We both had fish as starters and main and we weren't disappointed.
I asked for a specific seating arrangement and again it was perfect. The service was excellent and staff were helpful and friendly. We had a brilliant night. Due to a half term offer for kids, it was extremely busy for a Tuesday evening. It took 20 mins to get our drinks and had to ask for sauce 3 times before we got it. There was no partridge left which was a big disappointment to me as I had looked at the menu prior to going.
We have previously loved going to the three fishes and was disappointed on this visit! Very friendly and attentive but not intrusive service in very nice surroundings. Enjoyable, tasty and well presented food, which is not overpriced. In short, very enjoyable. Had a makeover since last time we went much improved in that respect though it wasn't bad before to be fair. Staff very good, service good, food excellent and prices great.
What more do you want. Even the Designer Debenham Ladies were in when we went on Thursday night this week Rather disappointed we had a table booked for 8. Food was very much below expected standard although we only had burgers they were very over cooked and the chips left a lot to be desired. Certainly not up to the mark. After hearing such wonderful things about this place we were looking forward to celebrating a family birthday here. The table was not ready at time booked and time spent waiting in bar was marred by an issue with a bar staff member.
We had to wait over 1hr for main course by which time we were not hungry anymore. Next time our family want to celebrate it won't be here. It all started reasonably well then went downhill. My wife and I drove from Manchester after googling good places to eat. We arrived about an hour early and found that despite arriving early our table was ready. The wife ordered a bread board with a humus dip for her starter and when it came there was no dip. It came with a treacle flavoured vinegar. We never said anything as she quite liked the vinegar.
My starter, Garstang Ribs, although very fatty was well presented and edible once you removed the layer of fat. We then had a long wait of about 30 minutes before our main course arrived. I had the shoulder of lamb which I must say was excellent. My wife ordered a roast beef Sunday dinner and when asked how she wanted the beef done she stated "well". When the beef came it was actually a flame grilled steak cooked rare. We sent it back and 5 minutes later it came back out in exactly the same state.
A good vet could have made it breath again!! I'm sure however that for somebody who likes their steak rare it would have been fine as it was one hell of a juicy thick piece. All she ate was the veg which she stated was very nice. When the plates were removed it was evident that my wife had not touched the steak, which remember should have been roast beef.

When she explained why she had not eaten it she got "sorry". No offer of anything else. Now I like a bit of homemade rice pudding and was waiting for mine with great anticipation. It must have been good as it never arrived and I can only presume the chef had eaten it! So, taking everything into account including the price I was left a little disappointed. A fabulous meal.
Wonderful, very well presented, simple but exquisite food which was very tasty and couldn't have been better. I would certainly go again, and went this time for my 21st Birthday. Highly recommended and worth our journey from South of Preston. Good quality pub food in a lovely setting. Staff were excellent. As ever lovely meal with excellent service, well worth the trip from Manchester. Thoughtful staff, prompt service and lovely food and drinks made a special occasion meal memorable without ostentation. It was so nice to have healthy sized portions and be able to enjoy more than one course!
A lovely meal. Slightly on the high price range but not too bad. Not the easiest to get to in inclement weather. Service good. Nice smart modern restaurant. Very enjoyable meal and highly recommended. We went on a Sunday so they only had a limited menu on which was disappointing however the food was great and good value for money. Staff were friendly and attentive. The service was terrible, and the food nothing to write home about. We booked the Three Fishes Restaurant for a " family get to gether".

All the family were impressed with the food, service and the friendly atmosphere. We would go again, and some of the family can be very difficcult to please! I went for my birthday meal and it was lovely. Very professional wonderful atmosphere real log fire. They're all walking around different people bring drinks food starters etc. Little bit confusing and makes chatting with staff hard if you like that. Sign up Sign in. Overview Menu Reviews.
